Trip summary only shows for a few seconds after turning off the key, so either have someone to dictate to, or a notepad or phone handy to take a pic. That will give you the current total usable capacity, which you can then compare to the original, which I believe is 22kWh (please correct me if I'm wrong). At the end, take the display's "trip summary" miles, divided by mi/kWh, & divide THAT by the difference in the % gauge. I suggest checking the % gauge at the beginning & end of a drive (the longer the better).

I'd suggest avoiding most other software aside from multiecuscan, since the car is pretty touchy about what happens on the OBDII port. If this happens, you can clear it from the body computer, but you need the yellow cable to do that. This is because during the probe that most of the diagnostic software does messages between some of those systems get blocked and the car is not happy.

If you pay for the full version of AlfaOBD, you can also do active diagnostics with it, such as triggering lights, for example, but if you just want to pull a couple of values, the demo version is pretty handy.Īs a side note, if you try out some other software that's not AlfaOBD with one of these ELM327 adapters, you're probably going to get some scary messages about needing to immediately service the car that disappear quickly. If you source an adapter from China, keep that in mind. This is probably because the STM version is a rewrite whereas the PIC-based ones are based on the original ELM327 1.0 software and tend to be better quality. The STM-based ELM327 adapters seem to have poor support for this functionality, unlike the PIC-based ones. Some vendors put a 120 Ohm resistor across the CANBUS pins, which also can break things. If you're looking for an ELM327 clone adapter, you want to make sure that it properly supports CANBUS. I went through a couple of different cheap ELM327 adapters until I found this $10 Veepeak branded one that didn't completely error out when trying to connect: You can also get the data while the car is off, unlike modules that do require the yellow cable.ĪlfaOBD recommends using a number of somewhat expensive ELM327 adapters, which I'm sure work, but I'd rather not pay $80 just to get a few pieces of data. You just pick the Fiat, 500E, BATTERY MANAGEMENT, On-Board Charging Module and then go over to gauges, pick the AC bits and hit the play button to see the data. I'd read online that you need a yellow cable for use with the car, but that's not actually true for the charging module.
If that's all you want, turns out that all you need is the demo version of AlfaOBD with a half-decent ELM327 box: I'd wanted a way to get the AC voltage and current for filling out in Plugshare, and this doesn't seem to be available via the in-dash menus nor via the add-on GPS, though you can get overall power.
